The Jatra (procession) of Suryabinayak Ganesh of Bhaktapur has restarted this year on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi for the first time in decades. The Jatra (procession) , which was on the point of becoming extinct, was relocated to Suryavinayak Municipality ward number 1. It has reopened this year, thanks to the efforts of ward number 8 and ward number 6.
The procession, which is being held on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, has not been held in more than five decades, according to locals. Every year on Ganesh Chaturthi, the birth anniversary of Suryavinayak, the procession is held. The procession was cycled at the local tolls including Tindhara, Pipalbot, Guncha Tole, Rajathala Tole, Suryabinayak Chowk, Chalise Gaon, and others with Bhime-Baja, Bhusya, and Dha: Baja during the procession, which started from the premises of Suryabinayak Temple. Local Dhalcha Bhajans, Dafa Khalas, and Guthiyars joined the procession.
This is a voyage that has lasted from the dawn of time. But it has been postponed for decades in the meanwhile. Although preparations had been made to re-open since last year, Corona made it impossible. This year’s Jatra went off without a hitch with efforts.

Locals regard Suryabinayak, one of the four major Binayakas in the Kathmandu Valley, to be Inare Gana-Dyo. According to Rajathala, Lord Ganesha‘s main idol is only worshiped in public twice a year. According to him, the Ganesh idol, which will be made public for the Ganesh Chaturthi procession, will be brought to Talako (Pottery Square) Tole of Bhaktapur on April for the Biska (Bisket) Jatra and made public there during the Dyo Swang (Sagun) Jatra on April .
Suryavinayak Temple is a Hindu temple in Suryavinayak Municipality , It is located on the outskirts of Wards 8 and 6. In some sections of both wards, there is a tradition of circulating the Jatra, and the Guthis who conduct the Jatra and protect the temple are also in the vicinity of the two wards. As a result, the two wards have been given a total of two lakh rupees.
