On the occasion of Maghe Sankranti, fairs have been held at various locations throughout Bhaktapur. A large crowd of tourists gathered at Tilmadhav Narayan temple in Taumadhi and Wakupati Narayan temple in Suryamadhi on the day of this festival, which is celebrated by eating Ghee,Chaku (Molasse), Sesame laddu, green Vegetables and Yam.

In these temples, Ghee and Chaku (Moses)are applied to the goddesses’ body. Today, a large fair was held at Bhaktapur’s Changunarayan, Ashapuri Mahadev, and Doleshwor Mahadev temples at Seepadol, Bhaktapur. Devotees go to these temples every year on the day of Maghe Sankranti. There is a religious belief that eating a Chaku (Molasse), Sesame Laddu, Veggies, and Yam after taking a bath and spreading oil on the body can enhance the quantity of heat in the body. The day will be longer, the night will be shorter, and winter will be milder starting today.

In today’s Taleju Temple of Bhaktapur, unique worship is also performed. The original priest of Taleju, Uttamangaraj Rajopadhyay, would do special pooja and present numerous offerings using the money provided by Guthi Sansthan,
