On Monday, Shravan 26, 2082, the 12th annual celebration of Chandeshwari Ajima (Chandeshwari 12 Barse Jatra), which is situated in Chasukhel, Bhaktapur-5, is planned. Every year on the day after Sa:Paru (Gai-Jatra), a Chasu Ajima (चासुः अजिमा) constructed of papyrus wood is put on a different little khat and paraded around Bhaktapur. Every year on Chandi Purnima, a celebration of Chasu Ajima (चासुः अजिमा) made of metal is celebrated. The idol of Chandeshwari Ajima (चासुः अजिमा), constructed of bamboo wood, is traditionally paraded with her arms spread wide and decked with numerous weapons, like a peacock poised to battle the Demon Chandasur.

Some facts about Chandeshwari 12 Barse Jatra

In 2042, the event took place. In 2052, 2062, and 2072, it took place. The 12-year-old festival (Chandeshwari 12 Barse Jatra) could not be held for 30 years prior to 2042. Although the exact time and location of the incident are unknown, study is still ongoing to determine what happened and why.

When the district’s rice crop failed to ripen in 2042 BS, the 12-year-long festival (Chandeshwari 12 Barse Jatra) officially started once the temple’s roof was finished. It is also known that a landslide in the state in 2052 BS led to the celebration of a festival(Chandeshwari 12 Barse Jatra). It is also reported that Chandeshwari Ajima‘s primary deity was taken in 2062 BS. Following the theft, a 12-year festival(Chandeshwari 12 Barse Jatra) was held and a new deity was formed.

Likewise, following the massive earthquake that struck Baisakh 12 in 2072 BS,The 12-year Jatra (Chandeshwari 12 Barse Jatra) was celebrated on Monday, the 14th of Bhadra month, 2072 BS, because the Chandeshwari Jatra, which is observed annually in the same year, was also interrupted.

Additionally, it was discovered that when something negative occurred in Bhaktapur or Nepal, Chandeshwari Ajima would accompany Ajima (Chandeshwari 12 Barse Jatra) on a tour of the city.
